Jemma Smith took out the Open Female Ski

With Umina placing overall 10th and Avoca 14th, there was plenty to celebrate at the recent Opens NSW SLS Titles.

Jemma Smith from Umina won gold in the Open Ski final and placed 3rd in the Open Ironwoman, being taken on the final swim leg after leading the field most of the way.

James Koch

Shelly Beach’s James Koch dominated the surf swim, winning both the Open Surf Race and the Open Belt Race against a highly competitive field.

Other top performances were Zoe Clarke, Mia Cracknell and Natalia Drobot taking out the U15’s Female Board Relay and Shelly Beach and Umina winning the Opens and U19’s male Rescue Tube Rescue respectively.

With strong representation from clubs across the Central Coast and some messy surf to create some drama, there was plenty of excitement across the three days of racing, with our athletes putting in some solid performances in what was to become their last big event of the the season.
