Participants at the U13/14’s Camp at North Entrance

Fifty participants travelled to The Lakes SLSC last weekend to take part in the 13’s/14’s Development camp.

Usually held overnight, the camp was shortened this year to align with Covid restrictions.

The kids had a packed program of events including a SARS training session, a talk on pathways in SLS, a communication workshop and developing a club initiative.

The idea is that the rookies will then take their ideas and provide their clubs with a presentation this month, outlining their initiative.

“It was a busy program.” said Amy Fletcher, SLSCC Director of Youth. “We tried to pack as much in as possible given that we only had a day available for the camp.”

“The kids seemed to get alot out of the experience and we are looking forward to feedback from clubs on their presentations.” she said.

The program was facilitated by older youth members who have been through all the levels of SLSCC’s development structure.

The next program to be delivered will be the 15-17’s program which will run at various points throughout the season.
