There was plenty to celebrate last weekend with Central Coast masters proving they are amongst the best in the state with their medal haul across multiple age groups.

Three clubs gained top ten placings in the overall point score with Umina coming 9th, North Avoca 7th and Shelly Beach coming 5th in NSW.

In the water events, top placings went to Terrigal’s Hayden Smith and Paul Lemmon who both took out the triple crown in their respective age groups, winning gold in the Board, Ironman and Surf race events.

Lauren Goldie from The Lakes SLSC also dominated in the water, winning the Board, Iron and Single ski events in the 35-39 females.

Macmasters Trent Martin and Shelly Beach’s Keaton Watts went head to head in the 30-34 years age group, with Trent taking home gold in the Ironman and Single ski and silver in the board race, pipped past the finish line by Keaton in the board race, who went on to take out third place in the Ironman and Single ski.

The ladies from North Avoca, last years SLSCC Team of the Year, once again showed their skill in the water events, with Kim Findlay winning the Single ski and bringing home silver in the Ironwoman and Board events. Colleen Harrison dominated the 55-59 year age group, taking out gold in the Ironwoman and Board and a third place in the Surf race.

There was plenty of action on the beach, with Umina’s Steve De Vivo and Katrina West facing some tough competition but both bringing home the gold in the Beach flags. Ocean Beach’s Darren Peters took out the gold in the 55-59 yrs Beach sprint, then backed up with his Ocean Beach teammates to bring home the beach relay gold in the 200 yrs male race.

Toowoon Bay masters showed great form at the top end of the masters groups. John McNamee and Julie Dawson bringing in golds across the 70+ group in both beach events and John going on to win the 1km run.

In the Champion Lifesaver event, Kerry Armstrong once again proved her dominance in this event, taking out the gold in the 40+ age group alongside daughter and Nutrigrain athlete Jemma Smith, who took the opens win.

With eleven of the fifteen Central Coast clubs sending competitors to the State titles, teams day was well represented in what was wet and cold conditions, with 37 top three placings gained across the clubs.
