SLSCC Community Education Team

Community education is off to a busy start with much of Term 4 fully booked as plans get underway for a new season.

Last year over 16,000 kids on the Central Coast took part in one of our community education programs.

The team delivered free surf safety talks to 54 Central Coast schools as part of our drowning prevention initiative and several thousand kids took part in our Surf Fun days at the beach, learning about where to swim and how to keep safe on the beach.

Community education also delivered surf safety to over 300 university students and hosted a surf safety day at the beach for international students from Newcastle University, many of whom were visiting the beach for the first time.

The program has won several accolades since its inception in 1999, including two NSW Community Education Excellence awards.

Instructors are employed from within our club lifesaving volunteers, with a recruitment campaign due to launch next month for the season ahead.
