Nipper Iron Start

We are ready and set to go with 20 local carnivals finalised for this season. After a short delay, our Surf Sports members will be back racing around the cans from 14th November.

Central Coast Surf Sports Series

The first carnival is the Central Coast Surf Sports Series. This is a new format developed by club coaches to prepare our Open competitors for the competition season. This will see U14 – Open competitors compete against each other in multiple rounds simulating major carnival formats. This is a great opportunity for Central Coast members to get back into competition again. The first round is the 14th November and the second-round 27th November.

Central Coast and Hunter Boat Series

Our next carnival is the Central Coast and Hunter Boat Series which is the iconic 25yr old Boat series. This series provides our Boat rowers with five rounds across the Central Coast and Hunter branches. Boat rowing has a strong history in Surf Life Saving. It was the primary rescue equipment on patrol and used in the landings of troops on Gallipoli during WW1. Boat rowing also instils a strong sense of comradery which is at the core of the Surf Life Saving movement. The first round and second round are on the 4th and 5th December.

Newcastle Permanent Junior Carnivals and Senior Carnivals

Also on the same weekend is our Senior and Newcastle Permanent Junior Carnivals on the 4th and 5th December respectively. These carnivals allow competitors to compete in both individual and team events; such as flags, sand sprint, surf swimming, board paddling, ski paddling and the prestigious ironperson event. The carnivals provide opportunities for all Central Coast members to test their lifesaving and rescue skills and push their limits with healthy competition. The Newcastle Permanent Junior carnivals are scheduled for 5th December and 9th January. The senior carnivals are on the 4th December and 15th January.

Newcastle Permanent Ironperson Series

Now in its 17th season, the Newcastle Permanent Ironperson Series has built a reputation as the leading Junior Ironperson Series in NSW, with each round hotly contested by up to 250 competitors from the Central Coast and throughout NSW. The series also incorporates Opens who showcase their skills in the surf over three legs, swim, board and ski. This season the three rounds will be held on 11th December, 8th January and 22nd January.
