This month the SLSCC Team Management launched the 2019 Surf sports Development Program. This marks the beginning of a new era in Surf Sport on the Central Coast as we adapt to the changing trends within our movement.
With consultation of key members, the Board of Surf Sports committee sought the formation of a Review Panel to oversee the Development Programs in Surf Sports. This panel consists of experienced and knowledgeable members who have a desire to see the Central Coast be successful at a State, National and International Level. Their role is to review how the Central Coast develops Surf Sports on the Central Coast and provide recommendations to strategically position the Central Coast to enhance and develop Surf Sports on the Central Coast.
The interim solution is a Development Squad that focuses on two key components, coach development and competitor development. The importance of coach development is crucial in ensuring that all Surf Sports programs on the Coast can provide the skills and knowledge to all members. Through the program, coaches can further develop their skills and knowledge and collaborate with other coaches through being involved in the workshops and training sessions. The competitor development is aimed at the competitors who are on the fringe of making State Teams and medalling at State and Nationals.
The Development Program is the initial step in the development of Surf Sports on the Central Coast, and with the support of all 15 clubs, we can build the skills and knowledge of all our Surf Sport stakeholders the Central Coast and deliver engaging and sustainable Surf Sports programs for all members.
