The RWC team are holding an induction day this weekend for new RWC operators to begin their training.

The training regime developed in house by SLSCC’s support services team has been nominated for an innovation award at the upcoming NSW Awards of Excellence.

The course is based on AIM principles and involves targeted training at the known black spots on the Central Coast, including the notorious Fraser Park which was the scene of two significant rescues last year, both of which won a SLSA meritorious award.

The criteria for becoming an RWC operator includes two years of 100% patrol attendance and several year experience in the surf and driving IRB’s.

Training will continue throughout the winter season and the program is highly regarded within the support services portfolio.
